Matt Taylor

Children’s Pastor

Matt Taylor serves as the Children’s and Discipleship Pastor at Bethel, where he has faithfully ministered since 2017. Originally from Dorsey, Mississippi, Matt holds a Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology from the Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary. He is passionate about helping people of all ages grow in their relationship with the Lord and be firmly grounded in the truth of God’s Word.

Matt has been richly blessed in his family life as well. He has been married to his wife, Molly, since 2008, and together they are raising five children: Finley (14), twin daughters Harper and Lucy (11), Hudson (7), and Jude (5).

At the heart of Matt’s ministry is a deep desire to see children—and all believers—rooted in a solid biblical foundation. He is committed to discipleship that is God-centered, not driven by self-help or man-centered ideas, but focused fully on knowing and glorifying the Lord. He believes that true growth comes not from pursuing a better life by worldly standards, but from desiring God above all else.

Matt also emphasizes that discipleship must be Bible-saturated. He believes we come to truly know God through His Word and longs for others to echo the words of Psalm 42:1: “As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God.” Scripture is not a burden, but a joy—and the very foundation upon which our lives must be built.

Finally, Matt is passionate about being Gospel-focused. He encourages believers to be fluent in the Gospel, weaving it naturally into everyday life and conversations. The good news of Jesus Christ is not meant to be kept to ourselves but shared with others in a genuine and ongoing way.
